Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR therapy allows us to process trauma, resolve negative beliefs about self, and heal painful past learning. It goes beyond talk therapy to not only address our thoughts, but also our emotions and body sensations that are connected to past trauma. Utilizing EMDR, we can get to the root of current-day issues and resolve those roots, so current unhelpful coping strategies (like heightened emotions/emotional dysregulation, addictions, unhealthy relationship patterns, etc) are no longer necessary. This leads to living life feeling more in control and better able to choose behaviors instead of feeling stuck and being held hostage to the old way of doing things.
