1-on-1 Walk & Talk Therapy combines traditional counseling with the benefits of movement and the outdoors. As content discussed in session can often be heavy, some clients prefer a different environment to an office setting. Research supports the benefits of interweaving exercise, the outdoors, and movement in clinical sessions. These increases the production of mood regulation, motivation, perspective, and cognitive and emotive functioning. Movement can often make it easier to process emotions, gain perspective, and speak openly, while promoting greater introspection, self-awareness, and client outcomes. Nature provides a relaxed setting where you can deepen personal reflection and exploration.

We invite you to combine physical activity in nature to produce those endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine our minds and body need, counterbalancing the cognitions and emotions which surface.

Our team of therapists will maintain your pace and walk side by side in one of the most beautiful outdoor settings in the Clark County area, which is two minutes from our office. Walk & Talk sessions are decided session by session based on weather conditions, client request, and the provider’s discretion.

What to expect:

  • You and your provider will meet at Gordy Jolma Family Natural Area located in Brush Prairie at the time of your appointment.
  • Walking time will be 45 minutes, so dress appropriately for the weather occasion.
  • While movement may be a benefit physically, the primary focus is not exercise or workout training.

Walk & Talk Therapies are NOT offered by every provider. Check with your current provider or during your consultation to see what options are available to you.
